Biography

Born in Durban, the son of a working-class father and a union secretary/teacher mother, he studied at the University of Natal, obtaining a B.A. in Speech and Drama, majoring in Drama and Economic History, in 1980.

The performer Talia Egelhof is his daughter.

He started his professional career in the industry as an actor in 1981 and gradually moved into management as well.

His stage roles include Bobby Heaney's production of Samuel Beckett's Catastrophe at the Wits Theatre in 1985, En Die Son Skyn in Suid-Afrika, Brothers in Blood, Black Dog-Inj'emnyama!, Just Business, Just Like Home, Gathering of the Beasts, Man Friday, Daniel, Smitty in Fortune and Men's Eyes.
